<br />
Clean, sleek, new designs often use a rounded corner effect for their pictures. While this can be done by web designers with CSS alterations, we can also do it for images outside of websites using Photoshop.<br />
<br />
There really aren’t too many steps to this so you should get it completed in no time.<br />

<br />
<h2>
Getting started</h2>
<br />
We’ll begin by cropping the image to the desired size. <br />
<br />
<a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-zKhcfgWOtcY/UcxUUkpVzfI/AAAAAAAAAPQ/dUyaahgEFw0/s1600-h/image%25255B7%25255D.png"><img alt="Choose-the-Crop-Tool" border="0" height="159" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-Vd78nBpamhs/UcxUU2JxX4I/AAAAAAAAAPY/U15pCkh5AeM/image_thumb%25255B3%25255D.png?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="Choose the Crop Tool" width="225" /></a><br />
<a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-WAxjAFBYlt4/UcxUWLWFr8I/AAAAAAAAAPk/ioHOKLq8K-k/s1600-h/image%25255B2%25255D.png"><img alt="Crop-the-image,-pressing-Enter-to-submit-the-change" border="0" height="360" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-LJPASSPRL5k/UcxUXLbTskI/AAAAAAAAAPs/onzdr9GOSMM/image_thumb.png?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="Crop the image, pressing Enter to submit the change" width="540" /></a><br />
<br />
Press <strong>“Enter” </strong>to confirm the crop.<br />
With the <em>Background</em> layer selected, choose the <strong>“Rounded Rectangle Tool.” </strong><br />
<br />
<a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-OzLwZC7BI-Q/UcxUXuFNOqI/AAAAAAAAAPw/EizKjv3ANIQ/s1600-h/image%25255B19%25255D.png"><img alt="Choose-the-Rounded-Rectangle-Tool" border="0" height="190" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-Px6VxJ6qtwM/UcxUX4vqkSI/AAAAAAAAAP8/umCSd6iBxmQ/image_thumb%25255B7%25255D.png?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="Choose the Rounded Rectangle Tool" width="266" /></a><br />
<br />
Choose a <strong>“Radius” </strong>of <strong>"30px,”</strong> or modify to taste.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-AievwChp8W4/UcxUYPcP-DI/AAAAAAAAAQE/mD0qKKJZ4gM/s1600-h/image%25255B37%25255D.png"><img alt="Change-the-radius-to-30px" border="0" height="61" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-sPTcjF9MPmQ/UcxUYZADH1I/AAAAAAAAAQI/jzWFYoqSJRQ/image_thumb%25255B13%25255D.png?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="Change the radius to 30px" width="199" /></a><br />
<br />
Draw over the image to where you want the limits to be. The excess space, outside the rectangle tool, will be where the <em>Background </em>layer color is revealed in a few moments. You can adjust the selection location with the <strong>“Move Tool (V).”</strong><br />
<br />
<a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-s3_pblM34jk/UcxUZts4oQI/AAAAAAAAAQU/zSRkIwQiRTQ/s1600-h/image%25255B22%25255D.png"><img alt="Draw-the-Rounded-Rectangle-Tool-around-the-image,-moving-it-to-taste" border="0" height="479" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-bg2kecfulQU/UcxUbBfe3bI/AAAAAAAAAQc/kTWQHeFxd3w/image_thumb%25255B8%25255D.png?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="Draw the Rounded Rectangle Tool around the image, moving it to taste" width="484" /></a><br />
<br />
Then right-click the image layer, the flower layer in this case, and choose to <strong>“Create Clipping Mask.”</strong><br />
<br />
<a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-t_d-Scn1vrU/UcxUbdEeVhI/AAAAAAAAAQg/HJg6_r4tOjU/s1600-h/image%25255B25%25255D.png"><img alt="Create-a-clipping-mask-on-the-image-layer" border="0" height="133" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-Wx8lMl6zqL8/UcxUb5DRa7I/AAAAAAAAAQs/drOXoHMJxkA/image_thumb%25255B9%25255D.png?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="Create a clipping mask on the image layer" width="335" /></a><br />
<br />
The result is immediately noticed with the <em>Background </em>color showing through to the sides.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-TDeIurs1434/UcxUdDS_maI/AAAAAAAAAQ0/GuzyH_36cFg/s1600-h/image%25255B28%25255D.png"><img alt="Create-a-rounded-corners-effect" border="0" height="438" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-gtqXbJAEWvY/UcxUeXquMwI/AAAAAAAAAQ8/bKN0a8Olooc/image_thumb%25255B10%25255D.png?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="Create a rounded corners effect" width="483" /></a><br />
<br />
Delete the <em>Background </em>layer and choose to remove the excess transparent pixels with <strong>“Image > Trim.”</strong><br />
<br />
<a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-WNWkPEssOu0/UcxUewWdx2I/AAAAAAAAARE/YJTFZgwEyPY/s1600-h/image%25255B31%25255D.png"><img alt="Choose-to-trip-the-image-of-its-transparent-pixels,-to-reveal-only-the-rounded-effect" border="0" height="452" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-WFBGPKrIg-4/UcxUfcBdv7I/AAAAAAAAARM/glT4TC5NUEc/image_thumb%25255B11%25255D.png?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="Choose to trip the image of its transparent pixels, to reveal only the rounded effect" width="378" /></a><br />
<br />
Save the file as a PNG and you’re good to go with a rounded cornered image with a transparent background.<br />
<br />

One of the top searches I find for Photoshop tutorials is how to clean up the face. This is made easy with some simple tools. This post will be a <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NHgQaAp_LN0" rel="nofollow" target="_blank" title="Removing Acne In Photoshop CS4 (720p)">written example of this video</a>. <br />

<h2>
Getting started</h2>
The good thing about this particular picture is all the acne is contained, even though all over the face, within small pockets that can be easily taken care of.<br />
There are a few ways to do this, while some tools are needed in addition to others. Begin with the <strong>“Patch Tool.”</strong><br />
<a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-zboIFv0UQBk/UcrvJaMOqlI/AAAAAAAAALI/hE9hK-rsq0k/s1600-h/image%25255B5%25255D.png"><img alt="Choose-the-Patch-Tool" border="0" height="133" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-QUqP17cGHic/UcrvJiUQ1wI/AAAAAAAAALU/Ms-6ib46RNI/image_thumb%25255B1%25255D.png?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="Choose the Patch Tool" width="239" /></a><br />
Click and drag to highlight a good area of the blemish ensuring not to select too much of the <em>outside </em>space. <br />
<a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-MkVHk7qarzY/UcrvKPOJhAI/AAAAAAAAALc/IZZ560Cud-g/s1600-h/image%25255B8%25255D.png"><img alt="Select-a-blemish-with-the-Patch-Tool" border="0" height="360" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-ezmEIbaGt3A/UcrvLJ-6QeI/AAAAAAAAALk/VZJH2S4JZRE/image_thumb%25255B2%25255D.png?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="Select a blemish with the Patch Tool" width="462" /></a><br />
Now drag the selection to an area of the face that is clean and, at least somewhat, matches the tone of skin of where the pimple is. <br />
<a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-erVwMIrP9Lg/UcrvL1gh65I/AAAAAAAAALs/8xOJjbL75S4/s1600-h/image%25255B11%25255D.png"><img alt="Drag-the-Patch-Tool-to-a-clean-area" border="0" height="360" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-5Mj0uWlFeCE/UcrvMif20oI/AAAAAAAAAL0/cQuhOKdLO0g/image_thumb%25255B3%25255D.png?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="Drag the Patch Tool to a clean area" width="427" /></a><br />
Keep at it to remove the other spots on right right side of this image. If you’re left with circles of unrealistic patches of skin, just keep using the tool to select those edges and, again, click and drag around over and over to different areas to try to match the skin. <br />
<a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-ciQ_z_WnQ9A/UcrvNS0tEUI/AAAAAAAAAL8/5NnHWG2zZow/s1600-h/image%25255B14%25255D.png"><img alt="Area-after-acne" border="0" height="360" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-swKHRda3EXg/UcrvORWUBeI/AAAAAAAAAME/ZcYr5v6oIsA/image_thumb%25255B4%25255D.png?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="Area after acne" width="423" /></a><br />
If you’re using a newer version of Photoshop that features <strong>“Content-Aware,”</strong> try changing it to <strong>“Normal.” </strong>I’ve noticed it makes a bit of a difference in the quality of the patches.<br />
<a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-lUn7Kc-E2uY/UcrvOq9FFPI/AAAAAAAAAMI/dkCtpzfi0h0/s1600-h/image%25255B17%25255D.png"><img alt="Change-the-resulting-type-to-Normal" border="0" height="141" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-9YwGRVuMD_E/UcrvPLPJTkI/AAAAAAAAAMU/INAM3tGJlKA/image_thumb%25255B5%25255D.png?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="Change the resulting type to Normal" width="420" /></a><br />
The blemishes next to the nose can be tricky to use with the <em>Patch Tool</em>. Try using the <strong>“Clone Stamp Tool” </strong>for these operations.<br />
<a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-vsWpkNP_5Tg/UcrvPdClNzI/AAAAAAAAAMY/4dZxI5GaIxc/s1600-h/image%25255B20%25255D.png"><img alt="Select-the-Clone-Stamp-Tool" border="0" height="112" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-EI2EEPxB5M8/UcrvPgvQw5I/AAAAAAAAAMk/OSsycTgOHxU/image_thumb%25255B6%25255D.png?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="Select the Clone Stamp Tool" width="227" /></a><br />
The clone stamp allows us to better refine the source and destination selections.<br />
Hold down the <strong>“Alt” </strong>key and select the middle of the nose, or an area slightly to the right. Let go of the <em>Alt </em>key and begin brushing the sampled area (that’s the area you selected with <em>Alt</em>) over the pimple. You may need to use the <em>Patch Tool</em> again, to refine some differences in skin tone caused by using the <em>Clone Stamp Tool</em>. <br />
<a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-C0dsyl1xRaI/UcrvQC3-CfI/AAAAAAAAAMs/WXuNN0Edups/s1600-h/image%25255B23%25255D.png"><img alt="Rid-a-face-of-acne" border="0" height="360" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-2qmeKobTsAw/UcrvQ4_Tj9I/AAAAAAAAAM0/CmKZHuyY67U/image_thumb%25255B7%25255D.png?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="Rid a face of acne" width="450" /></a><br />
Playing around with the tools and trying over and over is usually what gets my results finished the way I like. This will always be different for everyone – the time required to finish and the exact result. Even the slightest few pixels different that one chooses over another can change the overall look of one’s result vs another.<br />
The left side of this particular image can easily be corrected with the <em>Patch Tool</em>. It took me one round for each blemish to get the following result:<br />
<a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-rSm4B6yD6AE/UcrvRfmoXQI/AAAAAAAAAM8/M18r5VHp5xk/s1600-h/image%25255B26%25255D.png"><img alt="Removing-acne-in-Photoshop" border="0" height="360" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-W_5HaPg1vm8/UcrvSWsox7I/AAAAAAAAANE/fg2DVMkOdkY/image_thumb%25255B8%25255D.png?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="Removing acne in Photoshop" width="428" /></a><br />
I’m finally left with the pimple above the lip. This one is too tricky to use the <em>Patch Tool</em> because it would change the structure of the facial hair. This is what it would look like with a simple pass over using this tool:<br />
<a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-x6kI-eTqfGQ/UcrvSzHaGhI/AAAAAAAAANM/cT8UanWhz1E/s1600-h/image%25255B29%25255D.png"><img alt="Removing-acne-in-Photoshop" border="0" height="360" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-n9Ut_TYjMJ4/UcrvTiEKNpI/AAAAAAAAANU/zqp5-x2HQJw/image_thumb%25255B9%25255D.png?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="Removing acne in Photoshop" width="532" /></a><br />
This looks more like a scar than the skin you’re after. Unless, of course, that’s <em>precisely</em> what you’re after!<br />
I’m not to happy with scars, mainly because I know we can do better. Use the <strong>“Clone Stamp Tool” </strong>to select an area in the center of the mustache region and overlay that onto the pimple with a <strong>“20% opacity”</strong> a few times. This will create the color that we need to match the hair. Ensure the <strong>“Brush” </strong>size is small enough to not puncture the outer region, like where the cheek, nose, or lips are.<br />
It’s already looking more like hair than a pimple. Now use the <strong>“Patch Tool” </strong>to select just a region of this new area and drag it to some good looking hair. <br />

I used the area right to the left of where the pimple was.<br />
<a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-u6c_ZlpnJJg/UcrvVqPDplI/AAAAAAAAANs/05yZdpK9SRw/s1600-h/image%25255B38%25255D.png"><img alt="Removing-acne-in-Photoshop" border="0" height="360" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-g0QrNTLHuG4/UcrvWqDseZI/AAAAAAAAAN0/tVLmlYJO5PI/image_thumb%25255B12%25255D.png?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="Removing acne in Photoshop" width="503" /></a><br />
The final pimple is between the man’s hands and on the chin. This is very tricky because there is shadowing in there that will seemingly become even more dark if we try to play around in that area.<br />
Use the <strong>“Lasso Tool” </strong>to select the region between the fingers. <br />
<a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-wk5gaRm9L_o/UcrvWzqd3xI/AAAAAAAAAN4/WVFdXCFEcvY/s1600-h/image%25255B44%25255D.png"><img alt="Select-the-Lasso-Tool" border="0" height="133" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-F5c6KpJWSXU/UcrvXQxsE8I/AAAAAAAAAOE/o53luRGnNRA/image_thumb%25255B14%25255D.png?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="Select the Lasso Tool" width="237" /></a><br />
Highlight as much as the areas as possible, getting as close to the fingers as necessary without compromising the fingertips or the shadows they’re barely outlined with.<br />
Select the <strong>“Clone Stamp Tool.”</strong><br />
<a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-cSErttPK2GU/UcrvXnZN2sI/AAAAAAAAAOM/wjgkpvFgVjg/s1600-h/image%25255B47%25255D.png"><img alt="Select-the-Clone-Stamp-Tool" border="0" height="122" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-QhwWDIFflRM/UcrvXw87epI/AAAAAAAAAOU/np-AZvqZUg4/image_thumb%25255B15%25255D.png?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="Select the Clone Stamp Tool" width="217" /></a><br />
Ensure the <strong>“Opacity” </strong>is set to something higher than you used before, like <strong>“50%.”</strong><br />
<a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-fsKxXowBbRw/UcrvYDjiJ2I/AAAAAAAAAOY/jjUUAxW9iAU/s1600-h/image%25255B50%25255D.png"><img alt="Change-the-Clone-Stamp-Tool-Opacity" border="0" height="64" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-l17keSQYeus/UcrvYnsBVdI/AAAAAAAAAOk/DSCt7KLViKU/image_thumb%25255B16%25255D.png?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="Change the Clone Stamp Tool Opacity" width="312" /></a><br />
<strong>“Alt” </strong>select an area below the chin and fill it into the selection. As you move up through the selection, the <em>Clone Stamp Tool</em> will need to be reset. So keep <em>Alt-clicking </em>in the same spot while going up the selection. You may need to use the top portion of the area, like below the lips, to fill the top selection properly.<br />
I noticed after using the <em>Clone Stamp Tool </em>that I needed the <em>Patch Tool </em>a few times to better blend the area with the rest of face. I dragged the tool to the right side of the lips for that.<br />
<h2>

Learn how to make a background transparent so an image can be placed over another. Combining images together almost always requires <a href="http://working-with-photoshop.blogspot.com/2013/05/remove-background-from-any-image-using.html" target="_blank" title="Remove the Background From Any Image">removing the background</a> before anything else is done. This will isolate the image or object in question, allowing for easy transfer and it can even look very real. Take a look at how we <a href="http://working-with-photoshop.blogspot.com/2012/04/combine-two-faces-into-one.html" target="_blank" title="Combine two faces into one using Photoshop">morphed two faces together</a> to create a new person by removing the background of the selection before transferring.<br />
Today we’ll look at two simple clipart images to show the fundamental routine one goes through to isolate a picture and combine it with another.<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<h2>
Erase the background and move a picture over another</h2>
We have to start by <a href="http://working-with-photoshop.blogspot.com/2013/05/remove-background-from-any-image-using.html" target="_blank" title="Remove the Background From Any Image">extracting the image out of its background</a> before we overlay it to another. This is so the background is transparent and doesn’t interfere with the new image. <br />
This is the result if we don’t remove the background before overlaying:<br />
<a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-DHDMLHzl_MI/UZ-DvW8KTQI/AAAAAAAAAIs/cyRFff4iLWw/s1600-h/image%25255B5%25255D.png"><img alt="Two-images-collide-when-the-background-of-the-top-layer-isn't-transparent" border="0" height="360" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-MEmjguUd-F8/UZ-DwCWUdEI/AAAAAAAAAI0/vxJrhaEox6E/image_thumb%25255B1%25255D.png?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="Two images collide when the background of the top layer isn't transparent" width="426" /></a><br />
Notice the white background from the tiger is interacting the the background layer of the car. Following out previous post on <a href="http://working-with-photoshop.blogspot.com/2013/05/remove-background-from-any-image-using.html" target="_blank" title="Remove the Background From Any Image">removing a background</a>, let’s expand a bit by doing this over another layer like we have now.<br />
We’ll want to hide the layers that aren’t involved in the removal so as not to get confused. Click the eye next to each layer that <em>isn’t </em>the tiger, in this example.<br />
<a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-vOtxazMOG5Y/UZ-Dw5D0OYI/AAAAAAAAAI8/XnsybVZvCjE/s1600-h/image%25255B8%25255D.png"><img alt="Hide-layers-that-aren't-currently-needed-in-Photoshop" border="0" height="219" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-iUWfz4GwWJ8/UZ-DxV8JqpI/AAAAAAAAAJE/MX4r8DM_B5A/image_thumb%25255B2%25255D.png?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="Hide layers that aren't currently needed in Photoshop" width="226" /></a><br />
This successfully shows the tiger with a transparent back behind its white background. To make this all transparent so we can freely move the tiger around, use the <strong>“Magic Wand Tool” </strong>to quickly select the white portion.<br />
<a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-53GnxybwGuc/UZ-Dx7jCiEI/AAAAAAAAAJM/RzoVV0jFEOQ/s1600-h/image%25255B11%25255D.png"><img alt="Use-the-magic-wand-tool-to-remove-a-white-background-easily" border="0" height="360" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-kg_XASEo2GQ/UZ-DylrozjI/AAAAAAAAAJU/BHcpLknZ3QM/image_thumb%25255B3%25255D.png?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="Use the magic wand tool to remove a white background easily" width="387" /></a><br />
Choose delete when you’re happy with the selection. The image has been extracted from it’s background, as shown below.<br />
<a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-gRTOf9Io-Qo/UZ-Dzbm4jHI/AAAAAAAAAJc/n8Iw7UuZMkc/s1600-h/image%25255B14%25255D.png"><img alt="Delete-a-background-in-Photoshop-after-using-the-Magic-Wand-Tool" border="0" height="360" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-9uUWlE1XwE4/UZ-Dz22LwZI/AAAAAAAAAJk/cEy9EdqUMQo/image_thumb%25255B4%25255D.png?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="Delete a background in Photoshop after using the Magic Wand Tool" width="337" /></a><br />
Deselect with <strong>“Ctrl+D” </strong>and unhide the other layers to show a tiger than can now sit on any surface.<br />
<a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-NrDD8wBjWVE/UZ-D1NOgOcI/AAAAAAAAAJs/BybV9CRkPUI/s1600-h/image%25255B17%25255D.png"><img alt="Make-images-look-real-in-Photoshop-by-removing-their-backgrounds-before-combining" border="0" height="360" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-qM5njaMZsoY/UZ-D1yK3_iI/AAAAAAAAAJ0/aCkRKHLIiUQ/image_thumb%25255B5%25255D.png?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="Make images look real in Photoshop by removing their backgrounds before combining" width="486" /></a><br />
This was a very easy example because the colors are polar opposites. When you are presented with images more complex like a human body that includes clothes and hair while standing in front of a tree, more work will definitely be needed. We’ll look at these in the future but for now, using the <strong>“Magic Wand Tool” </strong>will surely suffice.<br />

Photoshop makes removing images a breeze. The only issue with doing so is ensuring the selection for removal doesn’t include the non-removable items. More specifically, making sure the image doesn’t look odd when extracting its background is a little difficult. Nonetheless, we’ll take a look at how this is done.<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<h2>
Auto-select and remove the background</h2>
With the below image imported into Photoshop, select the <strong>“Magic Wand Tool.”</strong><br />
<a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-THk6iY98r40/UZ0ik39wIXI/AAAAAAAAAGg/RdBVgIyhMgc/s1600-h/image%25255B5%25255D.png"><img alt="Image-used-for-removing-the-background-in-Photoshop" border="0" height="360" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-RDUg3X7yvRE/UZ0ilDIZmBI/AAAAAAAAAGo/Xfh_jxFWJ7M/image_thumb%25255B1%25255D.png?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="Image used for removing the background in Photoshop" width="357" /></a><br />
The <strong>“Magic Wand Tool” </strong>can be accessed from the <strong>“W” </strong>key.<br />
<a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-EBHHjL_eDVI/UZ0ilw-tpfI/AAAAAAAAAGw/Q5y1rhxkZbY/s1600-h/image%25255B8%25255D.png"><img alt="Use-the-Magic-Wand-Tool-in-Photoshop-to-quickly-select-an-area" border="0" height="50" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-Tnnx-bfODLE/UZ0imNrofmI/AAAAAAAAAG4/TyvJirhF2eE/image_thumb%25255B2%25255D.png?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="Use the Magic Wand Tool in Photoshop to quickly select an area" width="205" /></a><br />
Because this image has a solid background and the foreground images (the people and middle wall) are extreme opposites in color, selecting the background can be done using this wand tool. Click the black area to auto-select the blank portion.<br />
<a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-RY81tpgaszc/UZ0imo3-M9I/AAAAAAAAAHA/uz4P0WVi-WY/s1600-h/image%25255B11%25255D.png"><img alt="Click-a-solid-color-in-Photoshop-to-quickly-select-and-remove-it-with-the-Magic-Wand-Tool" border="0" height="355" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-aBE4LVg0DCU/UZ0im6DD2KI/AAAAAAAAAHI/zKqDTczzZpU/image_thumb%25255B3%25255D.png?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="Click a solid color in Photoshop to quickly select and remove it with the Magic Wand Tool" width="357" /></a><br />
Press the delete key to remove the black and have only the light colored objects remaining. Use the same tool to select the middle wall, for example, and color it brown with the <a href="http://working-with-photoshop.blogspot.com/2011/09/using-tools-move-marcquee-brush-color.html" target="_blank" title="Using The Tools (Move, Marcquee, Color Picker & Brush)">brush tool</a>. <br />

Do the same to the other two objects to complete the image, successfully removing the background.<br />
Now that they’re separated from the background, moving them around in space is easy and doesn’t seem strange at all. This is how you would add these images atop another picture, because without the background present they can operate on top of another picture without revealing their own background.<br />

<br />
How do you make a picture pop out? Ever notice professional wedding images or sports portraits that have a football or wedding dress in color while the rest of the picture is black and white? It’s called a color splash effect and the result is quite flattering.<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<h2>
Make images and colors pop out in Photoshop</h2>
The result is stunning so the steps to get it just right need to be following precisely with little room for error. <br />
Start by choosing the original layer and copying it with a <strong>“Ctrl+J.”</strong><br />
<a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-5v7FSSV9tLU/UZvE774WtsI/AAAAAAAAAEY/KE5oZ4SVGeU/s1600-h/image%25255B24%25255D.png"><img alt="Press-Ctrl+J-to-make-a-copy-of-a-layer-in-Photoshop" border="0" height="185" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-LKlRFyeNLZE/UZvE8udGv7I/AAAAAAAAAEg/MjRDhG_GpiQ/image_thumb%25255B14%25255D.png?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="Press Ctrl+J to make a copy of a layer in Photoshop" width="230" /></a><br />
<br />
Select the background layer (the original) and make it black and white from the <strong>“Image > Adjustments > Black & White…” </strong>menu item or enter <strong>“Alt+Shift+Ctrl+B.”</strong><br />
<a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-uBDYlC8v1jA/UZvE9D_DNKI/AAAAAAAAAEo/iwdZ1TXUOW4/s1600-h/image%25255B27%25255D.png"><img alt="Make-a-black-and-white-image-in-Photoshop" border="0" height="274" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-dWA4hivnFjU/UZvE9oBp97I/AAAAAAAAAEw/SnsrNxe3VGU/image_thumb%25255B15%25255D.png?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="Make a black and white image in Photoshop" width="479" /></a><br />
<br />
Accept the default black and white settings for now.<br />
<a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-mPipnAvRxi4/UZvE-RwbWSI/AAAAAAAAAE4/LfBkxXU9N0Y/s1600-h/image%25255B31%25255D.png"><img alt="Confirm-the-black-and-white-settings-in-Photoshop" border="0" height="480" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-uuopxf26Yj4/UZvE-45dhLI/AAAAAAAAAFA/pBxtaPtucyE/image_thumb%25255B17%25255D.png?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="Confirm the black and white settings in Photoshop" width="393" /></a><br />
<br />
Notice the new black and white background layer, as nothing else on the main image will change because the colored layer is still on top.<br />
<a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-o8Tly91a2h8/UZvE_iF2t7I/AAAAAAAAAFI/kV45KOgh5WY/s1600-h/image%25255B37%25255D.png"><img alt="View-a-black-and-white-layer-in-the-layers-panel" border="0" height="360" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-tv46Q9Hs0NM/UZvFAECZF_I/AAAAAAAAAFQ/jhOQov8_MxE/image_thumb%25255B19%25255D.png?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="View a black and white layer in the layers panel" width="377" /></a><br />
<br />
The color splash effect can be done one of two ways. Either select the top, colored layer and remove everything you want to be black and white. This would be ridiculously unnecessary so to make it quicker, move the black and white layer on top the <strong>“Tulips copy” </strong>layer. You could also have just made the top layer black and white in the previous step to avoid this moving of the layer.<br />
With this top, black and white layer selected, begin using the <strong>“Polygonal Lasso Tool (L)”</strong> to select the spaces that should retain color. Press the delete key to erase this portion of the top layer and reveal the bottom, colored layer.<br />
<a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-n0W5gKLvkLw/UZvFAkQbmPI/AAAAAAAAAFY/sCHeSD6f6Jk/s1600-h/image%25255B43%25255D.png"><img alt="Select-the-polygonal-lasso-tool-in-Photoshop" border="0" height="73" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-_whdkP-hxBQ/UZvFA_21VVI/AAAAAAAAAFc/E9VTr3NL-RM/image_thumb%25255B21%25255D.png?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="Select the polygonal lasso tool in Photoshop" width="210" /></a><br />
<a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-8NEcMdFxrHo/UZvFBfgB3-I/AAAAAAAAAFo/98vazd3s-fU/s1600-h/image%25255B40%25255D.png"><img alt="Select-and-delete-parts-of-an-image-to-reveal-the-bottom-colored-layer" border="0" height="274" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-6uPfSZ0rAjg/UZvFCD7DKrI/AAAAAAAAAFw/49wtR1ZcAvU/image_thumb%25255B20%25255D.png?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="Select and delete parts of an image to reveal the bottom colored layer" width="343" /></a><br />
Keep doing this for every part of the image and the color splash effect will really come out.<br />
Instead of using the lasso tool, simply select the <strong>“Eraser (E)“ </strong>to remove the top portion with a <a href="http://working-with-photoshop.blogspot.com/2011/09/using-tools-move-marcquee-brush-color.html" target="_blank">brush</a>-like stroke.<br />

Using her again, we'll briefly apply lipstick.<br />
<br />
The method below is simply using the Curves Adjustment option to brighten her natural lip color. There are other options we'll cover in a later post that will allow any shade.<br />
<br />
1)<br />
<a href="http://img853.imageshack.us/img853/3548/menasuvarihqblondehair.jpg" target="_blank">Import her</a> into Photoshop.<br />
<br />
2)<br />
<b>Zoom up</b> to her lips and choose the '<b>Polygonal Lasso Tool</b>'.<br />

Adjust as desired.<br />
<br />
7)<br />
With the new <b>lip layer still selected</b>, choose the '<b>Eraser Tool</b>', change it's <b>opacity </b>(to whatever suits your desires), and lightly <b>brush part of the edge</b> of the new lip to reveal the bottom layer (the old lip).<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

More than that, we can actually make new people - people that don't actually exist (or so we think).<br />

<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
1)</div>
<div>
Import <a href="http://topnews.in/light/files/Bruce-Willis_5.jpg" target="_blank">this image of Bruce Willis</a> and <a href="http://ryanseacrest.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/George-Clooney_7.jpeg" target="_blank">this one of George Clooney</a> into Photoshop.</div>
<div>
<a name='more'></a></div>
<div>
2)</div>
<div>
We'll first <b>select Willis' face </b>using the '<b>Lasso Tool</b>' (L).</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZCZ-30PB_iUwafHPUeRkUVAiadXxZIPwh9a45ZQ5PGkYqd8Vp76v30paPDSyRZjkTrgsYQTlz1ydECWcmg0e-WokCp6oMKoet81dC0x6c45IAmnvBuiR8MSAa0nEHWc8hNhYXoeIpqu9h/s1600/Bruce-Willis_5%5B1%5D.jpg+@+160%25+%28RGB8%23%29.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Select-the-face-with-the-lasso-tool" border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZCZ-30PB_iUwafHPUeRkUVAiadXxZIPwh9a45ZQ5PGkYqd8Vp76v30paPDSyRZjkTrgsYQTlz1ydECWcmg0e-WokCp6oMKoet81dC0x6c45IAmnvBuiR8MSAa0nEHWc8hNhYXoeIpqu9h/s320/Bruce-Willis_5%5B1%5D.jpg+@+160%25+%28RGB8%23%29.jpg" title="Select the face with the lasso tool" width="276" /></a></div>
<div>
3)</div>
<div>
Then, <b>copy/paste</b> it over Clooney.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgdW56IIbbOahgmIWLLcWIO8GVe5WFS1N2f0haKtFKbNRDgjQZK8hjRUKVuPKRX40UD-mNKCE4wgOjw7Rj6ShQHP7oq2ONWR3jvmJJ1tu0v0fyGp_mUGMkwrv4tAgcr-dG-R8WCRK0aatIu/s1600/copytoclooney.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Copy-and-paste-the-face-from-one-layer-to-the-next" border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgdW56IIbbOahgmIWLLcWIO8GVe5WFS1N2f0haKtFKbNRDgjQZK8hjRUKVuPKRX40UD-mNKCE4wgOjw7Rj6ShQHP7oq2ONWR3jvmJJ1tu0v0fyGp_mUGMkwrv4tAgcr-dG-R8WCRK0aatIu/s320/copytoclooney.jpg" title="Copy and paste the face from one layer to the next" width="276" /></a></div>
<div>
4)</div>
<div>
Use the '<b>Move Tool</b>' (V) to adjust it's position. Also, decrease the '<b>Opacity</b>' setting to help line up the facial features. I suggest getting a hold of a corner of the box of Willis (with opacity down a bit) to properly line up the eyes, nose and mouth.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgRXQhQ8sdWgOvBSmldhNBWdb0txDOjGrwwSrkTHXGjhYSWOSNDS6dwY5UWwdCmVdH0B3LQMKEf0dpyBulAJjGdCeu6L60aMcNnIaZGaCkIMJp4jWcHptyi0HRs_0K1eZIi2i0hrXQHPSTU/s1600/opacity.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgRXQhQ8sdWgOvBSmldhNBWdb0txDOjGrwwSrkTHXGjhYSWOSNDS6dwY5UWwdCmVdH0B3LQMKEf0dpyBulAJjGdCeu6L60aMcNnIaZGaCkIMJp4jWcHptyi0HRs_0K1eZIi2i0hrXQHPSTU/s1600/opacity.jpg" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<b>Change the opacity back</b> to 100%</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi1dGrr6yWg2Z88hv-5lG-n5Pz-ruzVtIcljnzPuoPbHbvJyJEKsRRMnKRT4UOv2bRoOLkMN0XE65sl29vqkjDTBNMY8-svWzNl_UVTLCN-b0DBIbBt_oPY1WBInjgxFWbNDKTsvbXYYvla/s1600/100+opacity.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi1dGrr6yWg2Z88hv-5lG-n5Pz-ruzVtIcljnzPuoPbHbvJyJEKsRRMnKRT4UOv2bRoOLkMN0XE65sl29vqkjDTBNMY8-svWzNl_UVTLCN-b0DBIbBt_oPY1WBInjgxFWbNDKTsvbXYYvla/s320/100+opacity.jpg" width="286" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
5)</div>
<div>
Choose the '<b>Eraser Tool</b>' (E), change<i> it's</i> opacity, and<b> begin to erase </b>around the mouth, cheeks, and eyes to better blend the faces.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjq3Ym81y6kCk0PIFQBSqduNote-XF5Gu8apZVig08XVVOJZ3oOadMAXRktUHarWhGmC7ydo_2XzEVDU6sz1hfU2imo-YTiaCuuYZyI0q41_vVC3kI_ey50kQj1GEKDjs-UjwXYk7Q3fXRU/s1600/eraser+opacity.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="32" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjq3Ym81y6kCk0PIFQBSqduNote-XF5Gu8apZVig08XVVOJZ3oOadMAXRktUHarWhGmC7ydo_2XzEVDU6sz1hfU2imo-YTiaCuuYZyI0q41_vVC3kI_ey50kQj1GEKDjs-UjwXYk7Q3fXRU/s320/eraser+opacity.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div>
Change the eraser opacity to whatever is needed to perform the light erasing of Willis and feel free to continually move his face as needed using the 'Move Tool' to make sure it looks correct.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLi_QrPXmbMoyV-ngW__DvZUOZ1kyUdIqhf5_jH86dO8WKggPkfdnPldPQNSjnP6mfQAd1Ss2Zr7c02Sc5BOd80Yfq0zZK8pUG9JBsFiWISMfbO1704Z2QnPadWPB2gdB1vHLa_eIauDcK/s1600/mixed1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLi_QrPXmbMoyV-ngW__DvZUOZ1kyUdIqhf5_jH86dO8WKggPkfdnPldPQNSjnP6mfQAd1Ss2Zr7c02Sc5BOd80Yfq0zZK8pUG9JBsFiWISMfbO1704Z2QnPadWPB2gdB1vHLa_eIauDcK/s1600/mixed1.jpg" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
6)</div>
<div>
Willis' face appears to be a bit lighter in color than Clooney's. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
With '<b>Layer 1</b>' still selected, go to <b>Image > Adjustments > Hue/Saturation.</b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjuX37m_tCRw-tVU4gGNBWTcfYlGtAFwg7y5X0X9AfDgR2zwWQilYLW0gj2m07D1nt9hUudusnZvjIkCV4Vh58E13kjIr8G9pGNf0sK9PBXe4HNcP8gzykVjYyYcZNl239IJ3vSq7ps1Yzn/s1600/huesaturation.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="148" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjuX37m_tCRw-tVU4gGNBWTcfYlGtAFwg7y5X0X9AfDgR2zwWQilYLW0gj2m07D1nt9hUudusnZvjIkCV4Vh58E13kjIr8G9pGNf0sK9PBXe4HNcP8gzykVjYyYcZNl239IJ3vSq7ps1Yzn/s400/huesaturation.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div>
I increased this toggle for <b>Saturation </b>to 12.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiKkG5nuEVAdlUMpQOHZmeRRhxysqB22O5EQz3_7g9jxtnlPJAqZGJU2vt-LRWOVB3kVXDjuax6r751S1fWQVpJPPJefWyaQ04VggOtkCPynd3bVzZtEyxsZAdFO_lTa0tiCxftnxFTYbxa/s1600/12.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiKkG5nuEVAdlUMpQOHZmeRRhxysqB22O5EQz3_7g9jxtnlPJAqZGJU2vt-LRWOVB3kVXDjuax6r751S1fWQVpJPPJefWyaQ04VggOtkCPynd3bVzZtEyxsZAdFO_lTa0tiCxftnxFTYbxa/s1600/12.jpg" /></a></div>

In this case, faking a report card may be your last option.<br />
<br />
1) Scan the printed paper to your computer and open it in Photoshop.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg8JDhX7g4W4cavYpufyeuIKZHcef4JQQ9I-6LlltdgJ83lK1jBddtlnzXv6dc3ySiJoThsK_qZN-7aEhDtr_v7C8fYHq1l6wE0ISZCls-Lglpca-WczkzPVp3k23EjTMFkLClqYlO07iTh/s1600/reportCard.PNG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg8JDhX7g4W4cavYpufyeuIKZHcef4JQQ9I-6LlltdgJ83lK1jBddtlnzXv6dc3ySiJoThsK_qZN-7aEhDtr_v7C8fYHq1l6wE0ISZCls-Lglpca-WczkzPVp3k23EjTMFkLClqYlO07iTh/s320/reportCard.PNG" width="314" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
2) We'll need to either match the font of the new letter with the other ones already present to make it look real and natural or just copy an existing one, like we have in the above photo.<br />
<br />
Choose the 'Rectangular Marcquee Tool' and select an 'A+'.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiUKTMJcbxkP7721BBSUGZ_ZqkBur__Gm2mzonbCd7TsdGyHvVo5nniqFMRQFmsy-tvMONCEFbK1Fto8CTnhA03qz-46PGnT1iqD749Ng2yDa7VApAUIs3-E8QwwUIV3nTn3ixIbz4olD5D/s1600/choose+Rectangular+Marcquee+Tool.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiUKTMJcbxkP7721BBSUGZ_ZqkBur__Gm2mzonbCd7TsdGyHvVo5nniqFMRQFmsy-tvMONCEFbK1Fto8CTnhA03qz-46PGnT1iqD749Ng2yDa7VApAUIs3-E8QwwUIV3nTn3ixIbz4olD5D/s1600/choose+Rectangular+Marcquee+Tool.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiEyzbru7SE4KXQIDfnDmiYOjQGyB90t-8BBbNrcKKtmDgjkf5qDhgwjd1nvAcf5hOU1ZfHUHxdqfx1h8UOn48Br0h7rXuYZ4VmR32hkT8-7oLypMwYTlufHYWcQXsoqis0m-xdAqa1LKDo/s1600/choose+the+A.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="252" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiEyzbru7SE4KXQIDfnDmiYOjQGyB90t-8BBbNrcKKtmDgjkf5qDhgwjd1nvAcf5hOU1ZfHUHxdqfx1h8UOn48Br0h7rXuYZ4VmR32hkT8-7oLypMwYTlufHYWcQXsoqis0m-xdAqa1LKDo/s320/choose+the+A.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
3) Copy the selection and then paste it right on top of it.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgfldLXrHj17unth4R8ujeRHJoTpBaCwLbSDY0A24PhPEzqZtwmH9BMqkdFHZhAuEQgzX437Erdr7ImBhPz_RUvJ-J2fgjAjnAVM1UdXAnEbopYaYEzyfgR_xzXHx-FlK8vYEvd8FTw4LAT/s1600/copy+it.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgfldLXrHj17unth4R8ujeRHJoTpBaCwLbSDY0A24PhPEzqZtwmH9BMqkdFHZhAuEQgzX437Erdr7ImBhPz_RUvJ-J2fgjAjnAVM1UdXAnEbopYaYEzyfgR_xzXHx-FlK8vYEvd8FTw4LAT/s1600/copy+it.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

4) Choose the 'Move Tool' and click+drag your mouse across the screen to align the new copy of the 'A+' to match right over the 'F'.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhffXucVM7wdv8RaC8fzYthOqc0nsfTcPfkffcdjn3fgiPgN7Mi9Mo_c4_iAr1_XdLliWRmu64w3OW803fJs3ccg2hVQ3CTl2nqP0ZbxG7SFIWefMgvq64QnqcV0uMF6lEAqeOgxoeAzMaY/s1600/choose+the+move+tool.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhffXucVM7wdv8RaC8fzYthOqc0nsfTcPfkffcdjn3fgiPgN7Mi9Mo_c4_iAr1_XdLliWRmu64w3OW803fJs3ccg2hVQ3CTl2nqP0ZbxG7SFIWefMgvq64QnqcV0uMF6lEAqeOgxoeAzMaY/s1600/choose+the+move+tool.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhtNqi38Puil91h2I_6bUuShAdDab9K8k7DwlRU_QEmeSY7p5_sDCJtGFxmdabEVhADoBmjsP9Hltld5OD_p-AlDhmXVPkA6iyOz0-V_TQS3KNNAAcLvHEBAIEvNmGYB8AR95kcfkDzHyv9/s1600/move+to+the+F.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhtNqi38Puil91h2I_6bUuShAdDab9K8k7DwlRU_QEmeSY7p5_sDCJtGFxmdabEVhADoBmjsP9Hltld5OD_p-AlDhmXVPkA6iyOz0-V_TQS3KNNAAcLvHEBAIEvNmGYB8AR95kcfkDzHyv9/s320/move+to+the+F.jpg" width="317" /></a></div>
5) Finally, flatten the image to form only one layer. Now you can print this off and give it to your parents!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg9WYlnV_t64HH3gbYyRCcvua9KrANofKOhub9AJGq0wOlT4bHr5cXIBPfq3fufbQZOBzpQ6ZmWZltxZoRHcULbcDHACtW8MDaz-aiP-vvTYyeSRFU1zXbVheJsfutGO3NGzQbO3hNE0yAA/s1600/flatten+the+image+copy.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg9WYlnV_t64HH3gbYyRCcvua9KrANofKOhub9AJGq0wOlT4bHr5cXIBPfq3fufbQZOBzpQ6ZmWZltxZoRHcULbcDHACtW8MDaz-aiP-vvTYyeSRFU1zXbVheJsfutGO3NGzQbO3hNE0yAA/s1600/flatten+the+image+copy.png" /></a></div>

This is very easy.<br />
<br />
1)<br />

We changed hair color in a <a href="http://working-with-photoshop.blogspot.com/2011/09/change-hair-color-in-photoshop.html">past post</a> using the 'Brush Tool' and painted a red color over the hair for selection. <br />
1)<br />
<a href="http://working-with-photoshop.blogspot.com/2011/09/opening-image.html">Open your image</a> (we'll use <a href="http://img853.imageshack.us/img853/3548/menasuvarihqblondehair.jpg">this one</a>) and <b>choose the 'Brush Tool'</b>.<br />
<br />
2)<br />
<b>Press 'Q'</b> on your keyboard to activate 'Quick Mask' mode.<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
3)<br />
<b>Re-size the brush</b> however you like to make the brush strokes match the hair size, <b>zoom up</b> as needed, and then <b>brush all of her hair</b> that you want to color.<br />
<br />
To re-size, change the 125 (in this photo) to a smaller/larger size:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0T080zO0Pvm5E3_l-jZxzO2EmfQYR44exnri2nvI0ezb1WkvqkLE8EEunh6ThZ9M8OxtXPn-3n2j1iKpp9jAGXpVqTYdtG-wW9bMhXPtu37GugptQVBCJgfvPv6zsKPuxDLXAtups-Mwg/s1600/brush+options.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="19" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0T080zO0Pvm5E3_l-jZxzO2EmfQYR44exnri2nvI0ezb1WkvqkLE8EEunh6ThZ9M8OxtXPn-3n2j1iKpp9jAGXpVqTYdtG-wW9bMhXPtu37GugptQVBCJgfvPv6zsKPuxDLXAtups-Mwg/s320/brush+options.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<u>Note</u>: As you brush the color will be, by default, pinkish red. This <b>will not </b>be the color of her hair. We'll choose that at a later time.<br />

<b> </b><br />
1)<br />
<a href="http://working-with-photoshop.blogspot.com/2011/09/opening-image.html">Open an image</a> (<a href="http://cache2.allpostersimages.com/p/LRG/10/1058/48LL000Z/posters/the-simple-truth.jpg">like this one</a>) into Photoshop.<br />
<br />
<u>Note</u>: If you didn't copy/paste, but rather file/opened, you will need to <b>double-click the <i>'Background'</i> layer</b> and then <b>choose OK</b> to the prompt to effectively remove the background layer (notice it change to 'Layer 0').<br />
<br />
2)<br />
Ensure the layer with the image is selected, and <b>choose the 'Move Tool'</b>. <br />
<br />
3)<br />
Use the tool by <b>clicking and dragging the image</b> across the screen. The image will move and reveal what's behind it (transparent pixels if you have no background and white if you do).<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh3VbiYy2V3CGEXGI1TcAFAE829fz6UoZyIbe8ll5SA3-468ChC8FPLyh8BGweBqsE6co2eRkUYrMjCWQNxp_LutK8S-oKC5REzC4pzlmKvQnG5GwKyd43YldoCOU9QAmULbRsXbJh5gAxY/s1600/dragged+image.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh3VbiYy2V3CGEXGI1TcAFAE829fz6UoZyIbe8ll5SA3-468ChC8FPLyh8BGweBqsE6co2eRkUYrMjCWQNxp_LutK8S-oKC5REzC4pzlmKvQnG5GwKyd43YldoCOU9QAmULbRsXbJh5gAxY/s320/dragged+image.jpg" width="216" /></a></div><br />
<br />
<br />
1)<br />
With the above tutorial still intact in Photoshop, move the image back to it's original location (or just start over) and <b>choose the 'Rectangular Marcquee Tool</b>'.<br />
<br />
2)<br />
Select a portion of the image desired for deletion by <b>clicking and dragging the tool around</b> that particular section like the bottom of this one:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhS_Ou3OaV9AMNgQNroMcyo6JbT6u5-n72OFC1UFYp4PQXlFp2Br5foZ2XNLCQt0Kv8BCghJ1Of7AB-tleeblT8VUPNM49s4WZouEE9uuXneZJowmLb0xlyUsZ3EPu6MNUrXjdwpmxpZUJS/s1600/marcquee+tool.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhS_Ou3OaV9AMNgQNroMcyo6JbT6u5-n72OFC1UFYp4PQXlFp2Br5foZ2XNLCQt0Kv8BCghJ1Of7AB-tleeblT8VUPNM49s4WZouEE9uuXneZJowmLb0xlyUsZ3EPu6MNUrXjdwpmxpZUJS/s320/marcquee+tool.jpg" width="216" /></a></div>3)<br />
<b>Click 'delete'</b> to remove that portion.<br />

It makes combining and removing space very easy and quick.<br />
<br />
<u>Note</u>: Navigate to <b>Window > Layers </b>if the menu is not currently shown.<br />
<br />
1)<br />
<b><a href="http://working-with-photoshop.blogspot.com/2011/09/opening-image.html">Place an image</a></b>.<span style="color: red;"> </span>I recommend <a href="http://media.merchantcircle.com/30014890/house_full.png">this one</a> for sheer simplicity.<br />
<div style="color: black;"><span style="color: red;">This tutorial only works by</span> <span style="color: red;">utilizing the copy/paste function</span> from<a href="http://working-with-photoshop.blogspot.com/2011/09/opening-image.html"> this previous post</a>.</div><br />
<br />
Notice how you have two layers present. One says '<i>Background' </i>and the other says 'Layer 1', which has your image. The background layer acts as a layer on the bottom. As more layers are added, they stack up on top of each other as they appear to in the layers panel. We can manipulate this.<br />
<br />
2)<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a>Choose the '<b>Magic Wand Tool (W)</b>' and select the space around the house by clicking once in the open space. <b>Click delete</b>.<br />
<br />
3)<br />
<b>Click the little black eye </b>next to 'Layer 1' and see the house disappear to reveal the background (which is white). <b>Keep it hidden for now. </b><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2K6DxiwE3VgAQGL9zIsgB31PwzcQ0a05teVW7_HEotJh44Ncj5C3wDTcMiVSmhV1_h3nRR2y8K8A08qMlTCZeOBy9CcffbcrYNlLf7HULSi-NyYHvQpuaJjQqfXKKDZmh-6kHaPD_Qfxg/s1600/hidden+eye.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="192" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2K6DxiwE3VgAQGL9zIsgB31PwzcQ0a05teVW7_HEotJh44Ncj5C3wDTcMiVSmhV1_h3nRR2y8K8A08qMlTCZeOBy9CcffbcrYNlLf7HULSi-NyYHvQpuaJjQqfXKKDZmh-6kHaPD_Qfxg/s320/hidden+eye.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<br />
4)<br />
To get a better idea of what this means, click the bottom layer (<i>Background</i>) and <b>navigate to Edit > Fill</b>.<br />
<br />
5)<br />
Under 'Contents' <b>choose 'Color...'</b> and select a color other than white (like green). Click OK twice in those windows to get back to editing.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhn1G6AaryTAH7ts-s-G6JvXnuIDwESs_2Pz9vaA2-ff6NWsnUFVeMlJjtLyXh7bNJo7N5h61n96xMruw4EIgspRg6NaGKy-Xb3dSHyxezjhba9NO-X5PDsgjFhdi3e9BpiaQ1UchnnKwVY/s1600/Choose+a+color.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="245" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhn1G6AaryTAH7ts-s-G6JvXnuIDwESs_2Pz9vaA2-ff6NWsnUFVeMlJjtLyXh7bNJo7N5h61n96xMruw4EIgspRg6NaGKy-Xb3dSHyxezjhba9NO-X5PDsgjFhdi3e9BpiaQ1UchnnKwVY/s320/Choose+a+color.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
6)<br />
So now we see your chosen color. <b>Make the house visible again</b> by clicking the eye next to 'Layer 1'.<br />
<br />
We now have two layers. One background layer with the color green and a layer on top with a house.<br />
